Mighty Milers

Mighty Milers

At Lowell, we know the importance of both mind and body wellness. We encourage all our students to be active, and we participate in Mighty Milers, the free, New York Road Runners running program for kids of all fitness levels. It's designed to get kids moving and prevent obesity and illness.

Participation in Mighty Milers helps kids build their self-esteem, and learn to make and reach personal goals. Mighty Milers run or walk in supervised sessions before and during school. Over the course of the school year, children in Mighty Milers set goals to run and/or walk a certain distance and earn rewards, which they receive at regular all-school assemblies for reaching milestones along the way.

This year for the first time, we have almost 30 of our students participating in the Run for the Zoo, the Biopark event on May 7. We were able to offer full and partial scholarships to all our students through outside friends of Lowell.
